Marco Pappagallo, MD

Marco Pappagallo, M.D. is Senior Medical & Scientific Advisor at Psy Therapeutics, where he provides strategic leadership in translational neuroscience, clinical development, and pain pharmacology. With more than 30 years of experience spanning academic medicine, clinical neurology, and biopharmaceutical innovation, his career has been dedicated to advancing novel, non-opioid treatments for pain and neuropsychiatric disorders. A recognized leader in the field, Dr. Pappagallo has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and four textbooks, and holds multiple U.S. and international patents related to pain medicine.

Dr. Pappagallo has held senior faculty positions at Johns Hopkins, NYU, Mount Sinai, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and served as Chief Medical Officer at CerSci and Relmada Therapeutics, leading programs from early development through clinical milestones. He continues to practice medicine at the Pain and Neurorestoration Medical Center in New York City, where his close work with patients provides unique insight into the biology and lived experience of pain, helping to guide Psy’s mission to develop next-generation treatments for central nervous system disorders.

Dr. Pappagallo earned his MD from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” completed his neurology residency at SUNY Stony Brook, and a clinical and research fellowship in Pain Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
